MPE07 : Optimising the performance of x-ray imaging units
A practical challenge to be solved: Which standardized methods to assess safety and performance (example: IEC) can the MPE use in practice?
Importance and impact of the training module: IEC standards for the measurement of image quality were designed for use by manufacturers but there is a growing use in clinical environments too. With care these procedures can be adapted and undertaken by medical physicists on clinical systems indeed. IEC based methods of safety and detector performance will be re-viewed and applied on devices encountered in practice.
Lead: Dr. A. Mackenzie, prof. K. Young, RSCH (partner 8).
